Strops and Stilettos 12

Have we talked about Chanel yet? I can’t believe it’s something I would have skipped over. Here are the things I love the most, ever, ever.

1.    Chanel
2.    Karl Lagerfeld
3.    Speaking bad French

So you can imagine my absolute giddy GLEE over going to the screening of Coco Avant Chanel. (I only see films dans a petite private screening room, I am certainly not one for tramping up to the megaplex and actually having to pay to be entertained). We got to go to the Soho Hotel, I mean Lord, to be honest I am very rarely not popping in, but always enjoyable I say. It was a glossy-stand-off. Because we were just all there. By all I mean all the top-end-high-fash magazine people. When we are all en masse, it is like this: everyone walks as a mini-pack. You have to stay within your pack. It is like this whole power thing, and then of course we are all just look, look, looking at what everyone else is wearing. And up and down and with a straight, poker face (I call it the fashion-twitch).

But I digress, really we must talk about the film. It was magnifique, so tres chic, so ooooooo, je ne sais quoi, just SO. Audrey Tautou of Amelie-fame plays Coco. I mean of course she does, who on Earth else would? She is drool-over brilliant. She pulls all those excellent French-faces, you know where they are like ‘Hmmm, eh? Non.’ Ooooooo, I just love the French. And of course she looked so adorable, and gamine and jaunty. There was also a hot man with a moustache. I do love a moustache. We got to meet Audrey afterwards. She is too divine. And so tiny. Possibly even the most tiny person I have ever met. But gracious and amusante, and altogether a perfect French treat.  She told us all about her ‘special relationship with Karl and Chanel.’ I was almost sick with jealousy. Here are the things I own from Chanel:

1.    A LOT of maquillage
2.    One pair of earrings
3.    3 x parfum

Here are the things Audrey probably has

1.    Anything she wants
2.    Couture

My new aim is to now be as Audrey-like as possible. She is my number 4. So now I am thinking, what on Earth would Audrey wear to Glastonbury? It has just thrown out my whole concept. Back to le drawing board…
