Alexandra's Homecoming Gig

Instyle - Alexandra's Homecoming Gig

We're done denying it, we can safely say that everyone at InStyle.co.uk is a fully signed up member of the X Factor fan club. We're already googling X Factor addicts support groups for when the series finishes next Saturday.

And as a London born girl myself, I happen to be backing a fellow Londoner to take the crown at next week’s final. So when I discovered that Alexandra Burke would be performing a one-off intimate gig for press, family and friends and 200 very lucky fans I was beside myself with excitement.

Alex gave the exclusive performance at Koko in Camden to rally up some local support for the looming final. And as if to prove that Simon and the judges were absolutely right about her having star quality, she arrived in a gorgeous red Ralph Lauren coat – which she informed us was a present from her mentor Cheryl Cole. Lucky girl!

A nervous looking Alex finally stepped onto the stage to the sound of deafening screams from her waiting fans, some of whom had been queuing for three hours in the freezing cold just to catch a glimpse of their X Factor favourite. Wearing a pretty black prom dress and towering black gladiator heels from Office Alex was looking very much the up-coming starlet.

It wasn' t long before the 20-year-old was strutting about the stage giving shout-outs to some very proud family and friends who had come to give their support. And she didn’t disappoint, singing three note-perfect renditions of her favourite songs from the series so far – You are so Beautiful, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, and the amazing Listen by Beyonce.

Instantly likeable, Alexandra filled the gaps in between her songs with non-stop talking and laughing, and didn't stop thanking her fans for their love and support, saying “Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me. You guys have made my LIFE!”

Only being allowed to perform three songs (she had to save her voice for the big night on Saturday) the lovely Alex wanted to make sure that her fans got a gig well worth their wait. “I know you didn’t queue for three hours just for a 10 minute gig now did you?!” she asked the crowds. “No! So I want to stay here all night with you guys!” She then launched into an incredible unplanned and unaccompanied performance of Natural Woman, which had the whole crowd silenced in awe, and her family in tears.

“Every vote counts so make sure you pick up the phone and vote for whoever it is that you want to win,” she shouted to the crowds,” Oh forget it. Just vote for me! I want to win!”

I know who’s getting my vote on Saturday night. Forget about Eoghan and JLS… Alex to win!
