When In Style met Angelina Jolie

It’s not everyday that a megastar such as Angelina Jolie comes to town, so when us In Stylers heard that she was going to be giving interviews about her new film Changeling, we pretty much fell over ourselves to get on the press list.
So that’s how I came to find myself heading to Claridge's on a Monday lunchtime, armed with questions for the intimidatingly attractive Miss Jolie.
It’s amazing what a little A-list star quality can add to an outfit. Angelina greeted us wearing the simplest of grey round-neck jumpers, light grey tailored trousers, and black courts. Still, she successfully managed to ooze Hollywood screen siren from every pore. Anyone else would have looked like a teacher in that get-up.
What came across during the interview was a remarkably laid back, friendly (and at some points, suprisingly funny) woman who spoke openly about her kids, her private life and being in the public eye.
At times, the interview was emotional, with the actress even moved to tears when she began to talk about her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand (who sadly passed away last year.)
“People used to call her Marshmallow as a joke, because she was just the softest woman,” she said, her voice breaking. “She would never get angry… But when it came to her kids, she was incredibly fierce. She had this elegance and strength, through always knowing what was right.”
It was at this point that even I had a lump in my throat. This Hollywood superstar was just a heartbroken daughter desperately missing her mum.
But after a pause to collect herself, Ange was back on form, talking time-out, kids and Christmas.
“Oh our family love Christmas, we have our Mum and Dad plans” she grinned broadly. “Staying up late on Christmas Eve, wrapping presents and doing the stockings. That’s what it’s all about… There’s a lot of love in our family.”
So with all those kids (6 now in total) – you can only imagine that Angelina relishes her spare time as much as any mum.
“I spend my free time in my pyjamas, doing lots of colouring in with my kids” she joked. “I haven’t worked for the past year now, and I’m fortunate enough to be in a financial position where I don’t have to. I’m very lucky and it’s been great.”
So can we expect any new additions to the Brangelina brood? She paused, then laughed. “Sure you can!”
Before I met Ange, I was a loyal and outspoken member of team Aniston. But that was before. What can I say? Angelina was lovely, charming and completely mesmerising - and I have to admit that I am now most definitely a fan.
