The Grey Goose Vodka Pre Oscars Party

Instyle - The Grey Goose Vodka Pre Oscars Party

If there is anything you can love about 5 star hotels, it’s the room service. I think I love room service more than anything. I really think I do. Although this maybe why the number of celebs I’ve spotted in my hotel is 0, others 3 (Jennifer Aniston in a lift, Tom Hanks in corridor, Hilary Swank by lobby). Although I did spy Farrah Fawcett (looking SUPER well) having some luncheon in the polo lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel (I recommend the lobster risotto).

So again the place to be was back at Soho House’s pop up club prive, sponsored by those lovely folk from Grey Goose Vodka (who simply love showering you with gifts – my Tiffany delivery was especially welcome yesterday afternoon). But the celeb count was so high, even if I never see another famous person again, I will die happy.

So, there I was standing by the door having some jolly chats when all of a sudden a small blonde lady walks in, with no kerfuffle, no dramatics. It is however Madonna. I think I actually may have stopped breathing. She was like a FOOT away from me, and boy she doesn’t just look good for her age, she looks absolutely INCREDIBLE for a 22 year old. Flawless. Gorge black coat with a beautiful flared skirt. So then she comes in and goes over to say hi to Drew Barrymore (who’s birthday it is – lord where else this week would you hold a party eh?), and they have a super big hug-hello, and there’s lots of laughing and whispering and then Drew (tiny, looking beyond fab in a darling Gucci frock) pulls over her boyfriend Justin Long and introduces him to Madge. It was so cute – and I am not one for the sentimentals.

Then it's all go: You've got Cameron Diaz jumping around with Drew to some Duran Duran (Girls on Film – don’t you just love it?), Guy Pearce is chatting on a table with Marisa Tomei, Javier Bardem is swanning around looking latino hot, Rachel McAdams (with a very cute short dark curly bob) in cahoots with her sister on a table in the corner. And Patrick Cox is there, and Anna Friel. It was fabulously surreal, and so fun. I only got a wee homesick for the old Albion though when they started playing some of our finest –although one has to be impressed when Hollywood is rocking out to Bloc Party and Hot Chip. Quel cool I say.

Today I am all about some serious shopping so am off to Melrose for a little of that Marc Jacobs action. And I must get me a hamburger – when in Rome and all that – and boy am I feeling all of those delish Grey Goose cocktails. Now, where would Madge go for a burger does one think…
