Pre Oscars Soho House Party

Instyle - Pre Oscars Soho House Party

London Fashion Week is gone for another six months so for serious celeb watching you gotta be in Hollywood this week. I, bien sur, am not one to miss out so have jetted over to get in on the high octane partying action which is going on ALL over LA.

The only way to fly to LA is first class all the way. I don’t know how I’m ever going to turn right on a plane ever again frankly. It is divine. Your driver will take you to your own private check-in area, before you're whisked through private security, before finding yourself ensconced in the Virgin Clubhouse. Pre-flight massage anyone? On board I was a couple of beds down from James McAvoy and his wife Anne Marie Duff. They’re certainly not taking any notes from the Beckhams I can tell you – very normal. Personally I prefer my celebs a bit more Posh. I even spied he of the fabulous Saville Row suits Ozwald Boateng en route to my manicure appointment.

LA of course lives up to all expectations - our driver from the airport was allegedly some sort of pal with Johnny Depp. A quick stop of at our hotel, the Beverly Wilshire – yes from Pretty Woman – but no, it's not the same at all – apparently it was all filmed on a set! So many illusions shattered just by walking up to the reception desk ‘This is the not the same one Julia draped her hooker self over’ I cried! - Quel outrage. Anyhoo once over the shock, and with no time for even a whisper of the word ‘jetlag’ it was party time.

As per every other year, Soho House have set up a very exclusive venue for all those poor celebs to able to just chill . Sponsored by Grey Goose Vodka (hence many a cocktail on the rounds – lethally scrumptious) it is tres Shoreditch, tres concrete cool. You have to love it – it's in a penthouse of some random office block and the view is extraordinaire. Jessica Alba was there with her bump Jared Leto, Casey Affleck, Harvey Weinstein and the lovely Georgina Chapman.

One thing about these LA kids though is their rather dull dress sense. I suppose when one is used to the skinny jeaned, trilby sporting vagabonds of London town everything else pales. My bright green patent Celine heels did go down a storm – many a compliment was thrown their way. Hopefully I shall inspire the LA crew to add a little colour to their palate, one can but try.
