In Style hits the Brits

I felt like a very lucky girl as I was handed my Brits 2008 tickets at the gates of Earls Court. As In Style's Brits representative I couldn't wait to be the first to get all gossip and report back. What would Amy sing? Would Leona clean up on her four nominations? Would the Osbournes manage not to swear? So in the spirit of bringing you the insider celebrity news, I braved the red carpet and the flash bulbs snapping Rihanna, The Klaxons and Amy Winehouse.
From my seat I could spot Winehouse's beehive which was rivalled for grab value only by Mika's lime green blazer. The atmosphere was poptastic as Mika opened the show joined by Beth Ditto for a duet of the latter ladies 'Standing in the Way of Control' which certainly had this reporter tapping her feet. The rest of the show didn't disappoint, from the rave-tastic Rihanna/Klaxons duet of 'Umbrella' to Mark Ronson attributing all his success on gal pals Lily and Amy - how very sweet. Highlight of the night was easily Amy Winehouse's double whammy performance, first with the delectable Ronson and secondly on her own for a rendition of 'Love is a Losing Game' which Kimberley Stewart later told us 'gave me goose pimples it was so intense!' No sooner had Sir Paul McCartney accepted his lifetime achievement gong than we were tottering over to the luxurious Hempel Hotel for the Universal Records after party, and boy, what a party. Put it this way, you know you're at a good bash when James Blunt has to be restrained by bodyguards because his guests won't be let in.
We however did have invites and sauntered straight into a conversation with Alexa Chung who confided in us that she was "actually really chuffed to be here with Alex (her Arctic Monkey boyfriend), he's done amazingly well" the gorgeous couple looked totally loved up. After grabbing a couple of One Cosmopolitans (grapefruit and lime very yum) we bumped into Henry Holland who confessed to being a secret Brits obsessive: "I have always loved the Brits so seeing it live was amazing." What did he think of the outfits on show? "You need more colour people!" Somewhere in between chatting to Kelly O about her 'horribly embarrassing mummy' and having our bottoms pinched by Alan Carr (twice!) we managed to sneak a quick gossip with Perez Hilton who told us "no one knows how to party like the British do. You guys just love music and partying so this evening is perfect for you guys, isn't it?!" And it really was.
