Milan Fashion Week – Day 2

Instyle - Milan Fashion Week – Day 2

Having had only five hours sleep last night and a few too many glasses of champers tonight, I'm going to spare you the minute details of my jam-packed day and talk you through the main highlights:

1. The D&G show. Normally not my bag, but this was everything a show ought to be: pacy, exciting and bang on trend. The theme was Britannia and the clothes, inspired by the Queen, were a fabulous mix of irony and trendy chic. There's no escaping the Seventies theme next season, so you'd better learn to love all things flowing and earth-toned. The clashing tartan and headscarves that seemed stolen from HRH herself were oddly hip and the sound track, featuring David Bowie, Queen and Robbie Williams, was amazingly uplifting, not to mention the presence of Brit models Agyness Deyn and Lily Donaldson.

2. The Burberry show. The best way to describe it was golden, from the soft bronze palette to the cascade of autumn leaves that fell from the ceiling at the show finale. It definitely felt like a fashion moment.

3. Cocktails at the Bulgari hotel. The jewellery house was celebrating a new line of fashion handbags and we were invited to have a closer look. The bags were very rock and roll, with embellishments in the style of classic jewels from the house's archives, the champagne was flowing, and the canapes were delish, from the risotto 'alla Milanese' to the salmon tartare. Best part of the whole affair was the fab Bulgari purse we got as a gift on the way out.

Practically perfect in every way.
