Start As You Hope To Go On

The NME festival team are boarding the bus to Glasto tomorrow morning at 10.30am. Yikes! I still haven't properly packed and I live in fear that I'll forget something important, like the camera charger I've just realised I left in my hotel room in Isle of Wight. I guess all that partying and not sleeping rotted my brain a little. It's going to be a whole lot worse after this weekend! But I'm really excited, even the prospect of a mud flood isn't getting me down.
I suppose my sunny, if slightly manic, mood is down to the pampering I've treated myself to over the past couple of days. I intend to start off my Glastonbury trip as groomed and glam as possible.
On Monday I had the most amazing luxury manicure at the Alpha Beauty spa on 246 Kensington High Street (Tel: 020 7751 1107). I gushed out all my work stress about the nightmare of setting up interviews and begging for recordings for the Glastonbury NME Radio show to the very understanding beauty therapists (they put the therapy in beauty therapy) while having my nails painted with my favourite day glow pink by Sinful (Tel: 01142 353 225).
I would recommend to anyone that they take their own nail varnish along. I'm expecting a few chips this weekend and want to be able to top up when needed. My manicurist told me that a couple of days after a manicure I should paint another layer of top coat, then if I chip at the festival I can paint another coat of the colour on.
Last night, I used some fabulous gradual tan called Laid Bare, which is a bit stronger than the usual summer skin stuff so if you can get a natural looking colour immediately. Perfect for me because I haven't had time for a fake tan this week.
Tonight, comes my favourite part. I'm going to the place that has given me the best hair dos of my life, the Hersheson Blow Dry Bar in Top Shop Oxford Circus. Honestly, going to this salon has changed my life, I'm squealing with happiness with the results – and the bargain price!
I can't decide between my favourite blow dry, the Bardot, which I wore at the NME Awards this year (see picture above) and the Wavy Gravy, which may be a bit more festival friendly. I kind of like the idea of turning up with this mega watt glam high maintenance hairdo and everyone else having their hair down. It all comes down to what's going to match my wellies and All Saints bomber jacket combo best.
