Loving Lily

Last night gadget gurus LG threw a party to celebrate the launch of their spangly new high-definition TV. With the promise of cocktails and a performance by my fave London lass, Lily Allen, the party was not one to be missed. The last time I saw Lily perform was at a private party hosted by her pal Jade Jagger? that was a year ago when she hadn't quite hit the big time and was still just a singer who just happened to have an awful lot of myspace friends.

A year later, the girl's just about cracked America, she's got Karl Lagerfeld on speed-dial, and her own clothing line ready to hit the high street. In a full-on Chanel frock and footwear, she's certainly raised the style stakes. The crowd sang along to "Smile", chuckled at "Alfie" and bopped to "LDN".

There seemed to be a Chanel theme emerging at the party, with Meg Matthews carrying a very stylish scarlet quilted handbag. "This old thing?" she said when I complimented her choice of accessory. "It's an oldie I pulled out of the cupboard for this evening." If only I could delve into my own wardrobe and pluck out a little Chanel number to go with my frock!

Meanwhile, Peaches was hanging out with her designer friends Rodnik, and we chatted about the only topic of conversation in fashion world this week: the Kate Moss for Topshop collection. "I've got loads from it," she told me. Wonder if she'll be buying up Lily Loves at New Look next week...?

A few too many cocktails later and it was hometime. On my way out I bumped into a rather worse-for-wear Rhys Ifans who'd been enjoying the free drinks by the looks of things. I asked him if he'd enjoyed Lily's performance. "Lily was great!" he said. And what did he make of the Chanel outfit? "Ummmm?" Clearly not a fashion fan.
