Schmoozing And Muso-ing

Not one, but two music shindigs last night kicking off with band photographer Lawrence Wilson's exhibition launch in East London, which meant hanging out with the likes of Noel Gallagher (who I am DESPERATE to meet!) and Kasabian. Had I made it, that is. Sadly, working late meant Noel had to drink without me (which judging by the pics in the paper he managed quite well) while I powered over to the next party and put off Gallagher-stalking for another day.
Onwards to Fabric and "Rage into Spring". I wasn't sure what to expect from this, as it was billed as "a grown up clubbing night" (hmmm), but with one of my fave bands, Dirty Pretty Things, headlining I couldn't not go. And at £350 a ticket (thanks for the free invite PR!) I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Free food and champers, in case you're wondering! Along with DJs, bands, and a stand up comedian, it had quite possibly the BEST canapes I've had at any party. Ever. Sausage and mash, Chinese noodle boxes, Krispy Kremes - and did I mention the unlimited champagne?! The whole thing was a bit corporate-y in feel (I think the DPTs are more used to lunatic stage invader fans than the civilised cheers that greeted them when they came on at midnight) but it was a good night out for indie fans that want to watch bands without said lunatics, though I prefer an old-fashioned mosh pit myself.
