Shoe Heaven

I love shoes. This probably won't come as a surprise to many of you, as you're probably all Imelda Marcoses in the making, too, which is why I don't feel a bit guilty about dedicating this entire blog entry to shoes. More specifically, to Sergio Rossi's fabulous footwear.
These babies are quite possibly the sexiest shoes on the planet, and are now finally available in the UK, in a swanky shop on Sloane Street. So when I heard that an opening party was taking place, I had no qualms about cancelling my previous arrangement (a best friend will always understand being ditched for shoes, unlike a boyfriend or husband), and headed straight to the boutique with a friend from a rival website (yes, it is possible to be friends with the competition; no, we don't reveal our work plans to each other).
A long red carpet and a swarm of paparazzi greeted us as we entered the store, which was packed with fashionistas, despite being the size of a shoebox (what else!). My friend and I decided to split up to ensure we wouldn't get the same coverage, and I smugly noted that I managed to get to Kimberly Stewart first, while she raided the canape tray (in all fairness, the nibbles were delicious).
My first instinct was to zero in on Kim's shoes, which weren't Sergio Rossi, but the gorgeous patent leather double strap maryjanes by Miu Miu - the very same pair I bought back in January, and which every celebrity from Lindsay Lohan to Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas seems to own. Kim (who is super-nice, by the way) said that though she wasn't sporting them that night, she does own a couple of pairs of Rossis and loves them. She also revealed the make of her flirty babydoll dress: "It's from this awesome boutique here in London called One - you just HAVE to go there."
We chatted fashion for another couple of minutes, but I was soon drawn to the dozens of beautiful heels in the shop, which I hadn't even had a chance to look at yet, so I made my excuses and took a wander around the shop.
What I saw was enough to make Carrie Bradshaw weak in the knees: red and pink platform sandals in grosgrain ribbon with a gently curved gold heel (this is the season's newest heel shape, by the way), sky-scraper python sandals in an array of colours, vertiginous wedge espadrilles in summer's must-have brights (fuchsia and cobalt blue), and for the heel-weary, gladiator sandals that would have made Kate Moss proud. These shoes don't come cheap, but they are certainly worth every penny. Especially if your aim is to land a gorgeous Italian man by summer's end.
